After a recent browse in my local TK Maxx, I was delighted to see shelves pretty much filled to the brim of Stila's lovely brown packaging. I came away with 5 items, costing about £23 altogether, and I think the RRP should have been closer to £100 (thank you TK Maxx!). I'm not sure why any of these products made it to TK Maxx, because as far as I can tell none of them were 'duds' or bad products, so I thought I'd do a little review on each over the next few weeks..
The first two products I wanted to mention is the Sun Bronzing powder in 'Shade 01', and the 'All over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer' highlighter in 'Bronze Shimmer' . They actually go perfectly together as they both have quite a warm glow.
The bronzer has a very subtle shimmer to it, and because it is more on the orange side rather than a dull bronzer, this couldn't be used as a contour for the cheeks, but with a fluffy brush if you apply it to where the sun would hit your face, it adds a lovely subtle healthy hue of bronze to your face.
Then the highlighter is a lovely warm gold which comes out quite strong on my pale skin, but as long as I blend it in well enough, its not overpowering and the shimmer lasts all day. Which is a problem I often find with highlighters - where does the glow go?! It applies with a brush, just like the Benefit High Beam highlighters, so you have to be careful not to get the neck of the bottle caked in product, but I really like its in a glass bottle - it makes it feel more high-end. I'm planning on mixing it with my foundation too, for when I want an all over dewy complexion.
I've been using this combo quite a bit this past week, even though the weather has been very cold, its been nice to give my complexion a bit of a boost!
